Cheltenham Town Ladies FC have been handed an away fixture in the First Round of the 2023/24 Women’s FA Cup.
As a Tier Three side, The Robinesses enter the competition in the First Round Proper and will make the short trip west to face fellow FA Women’s National League Premier South outfit, Cardiff City Ladies on Sunday, November 12.
Last season saw Tom Davies’ side lose out 4-2 on the road to Plymouth Argyle Women, despite at an attempt at a fightback. Two goals within minutes of each other saw Plymouth take an early 2-0 lead, with then-Robinesses Izzy Cook (80′) and Amy Wathan (90+3′) closing the gap, only for Plymouth to secure their win at the 90+6 mark.
Alternatively, Cardiff had an impressive cup run last season. A strong 10-0 victory over Downend Flyers in the Fourth Qualifying Round saw them rewarded with a home fixture against Bridgwater United Women in the First Round Proper; a clash they would win convincingly, 4-0. This was followed by impressive home wins over Keynsham Town Ladies (6-0) and Bournemouth Sports Ladies (5-0) in the Second and Third Round respectively. Following a spectacular 4-1 win over a strong Burnley side in the Fourth Round, FA Women’s Championship side Lewes Women brought the Dragons’ account to a close. Cardiff would go on to be crowned FA WNL Division One South-West Champions to mark of a stellar campaign.
