25th September 2024
Cheltenham Town Women will be looking for their first win in four weeks as they welcome Gwalia United to Kayte Lane on Thursday (September 26, 7:45pm kickoff).
After holding out for over an hour against former Women’s Championship side Watford, two set piece goals from Anna Filbey and Megan Chandler gave the Golden Girls all three points, at Grosvenor Vale last Sunday.
Tom Davies’ side will look to gain a win on Thursday night for the first time since their 5-0 win over MK Dons on Sunday August 25. It will be Davies’ 100th match in charge of the Robinesses, since taking charge in May 2020. Since then, he’s overseen the club’s promotion to the Third Tier for the first time in their history, and two Third Round appearances in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, in 2020/21 and 2023/24, matching the furthest they’ve ever reached in the competition.
They welcome a Gwalia United side (formerly Cardiff City Ladies) who frustrated the Robinesses last season, with a 2-2 draw at Kayte Lane last September and a 2-1 win for Fern Burrage-Male’s side back in February.
Tianna Teisar opened the scoring for the hosts, however Una Lue quickly followed up to level it before the break. Ruby Scahill dispatched to give all three points to the hosts in Newport.
Gwalia currently sit in 10th on four points, with a win against AFC Wimbledon, a point against Lewes, and defeats to Oxford and Exeter.
Davies’ side round off the month of September with a visit to Boldmere St Michael’s in the First Round of the Women’s National League Plate. The WNL Division One Midlands side, (Tier 4) currently sit in sixth, with seven points from their first five matches.
Tickets are £6 for adults, and £1 for Under 18s, and can be purchased here or on the gate.

For supporters unable to attend, live-action updates will be provided on the Club’s X Account (formerly Twitter) as well as on Instagram.
